Small aluminum fishing boats and boat rentals

I’m considering getting one of the small aluminum fishing boats as I’ve always had large, heavy fiberglass fishing boats with big motors. I’m a typical bass fisherman and had to have the biggest and the best.

What with the price of gas I’m seriously considering getting rid of my big boat and either buying one of the many used fishing boats I see advertised and preferably one of the small fishing boats I see as they have smaller motores, cost me less gas to pull and use a lot less gas.

Face it, boats are gas hogs, particluarly if they have big motors. Big boats also use a lot more gas in the vehicle you are using to pull the big boat with. Now I can afford the gas but it really irritates me to spend that much money on gas.

I haven’t decided yet whether to sell my big boat, buy a used boat or just rent a fishing boat. Fishing boat rental is something I’ve never tried.  ‘ve never liked the prices of boat rental at resorts so I’ve always owned my own boat. It was cheaper in the long run but I’m not so sure now.

I could probably save a lot of money and gas if I just rented a fishing boat when I go on vacation. I’m going to South Dakota to see my friend this year, he’s going to go to South Dakota at the same time and a friend of his has a rental fishing boat that he says will do everything we need.

If I figure what it would cost me to pull my boat from the Atlanta area to South Dakota I can rent that boat for about 5 days and it’s still cheaper than bringing mine.  It’s another way to save some money and some gas.

I’m also looking at flying instead of driving because my Suburban gets lousy gas mileage. Buying my ticket in advance it might even be cheaper to fly than to drive. Renting a boat would save me money on the drive and also save me money because if I don’t bring my boat I don’t really have to drive.

Renting a fishing boat certainly opens up more options for me and it’s something I have to think about. The gas savings alone make it worth thinking about. You might want to think about renting a baot too instead of hauling yours around.

The answer to your needs might be a Duroboat.

It is an aluminum boat that does not use rivets or welding.

They are really light really rugged aluminum skiffs. Some folks convert them to Bass Boats.

They handle lake and ocean water and go all day on a tank of gas.

Their website has pictures from all over the world. Some big fish in small boats. You can even see video on them if you go to Google video
