Fact and opinion are what we all live on. Unfortunately to many people have problems telling facts from opinions, in my opinion. What ever happened to the good old days when the TV news and newspapers were filled with the facts and opinions were strictly labled as such.
Who, what, when, where, why and how are the facts. I don’t know about you but I want to know who did it, what did they do, when did they do it, where did they do it, how did they do it and why did they do it if they know.
No more than that, no less than that. Anything but facts are sheer speculation and we sure get a lot of speculation as news. It’s not only irritating it’s downright dangerous. We are no longer a population informed of the facts but are instead a population manipulated by opinion disguised as fact.
When you don’t know the facts you can’t make a good and informed decision. That’s not good for you, me or the country. When all of are making our decisions on someone else’s opinion it doesn’t turn out well in general, except for the person with the opinion.
Here are a few examples.
Fact. George W. Bush graduated from college.
Opinion, any fool can graduate from college.
Fact. Hillary Clinton is running to be the Democratic candidate.
Opinion, Obama is going to get the nomination.
Now I don’t really know that any fool can graduate from college but it’s now within the realm of possibilty as George did it. Nor do I know Obama is going to win even though he’s ahead now and things are winding down. Like I heard today, Nothings over until the lady in the pantsuit says it’s over. I thought that was hilarious.
Facts are real, opinions are speculation about the facts and may or may not be real.
