It may be time for a change but the changes we need the President can’t do. Doesn’t matter if it’s McCain, Obama or Clinton. The Bush administration started all of us on a slippery slope we probably can’t change. The terrorists have won.
Few in this country understand how many freedoms we’ve lost. Even fewer understand that this country now tortures people just like other 3rd world countries. Fewer still understand that this makes us no better than the terrorists we so despise. Even fewer understand that the USA torturing people makes it far more likely our own people will be tortured.
Sure we need the information but the ends do not justify the means. As any expert can tell you torture is not a highly successful method of getting accurate information. The people being tortured will tell you what you want to hear to get the torture to stop, not what the actual truth is. The ends do not justify the means and we have lowered ourselves to their level. We used to be better than that. We need to be again.
While I can’t completely blame the govt for rising prices they didn’t do much of anything to prevent it. China’s modernization has something to do with it as does India’s. There are a finite amount of resources to divide between all people and we have used the lions share of most resources for a long time.
It’s not going to get better until our dependence on foreign oil is gone. Just that little fact by itself is a threat to this countries security. Fighting a phony war over WMD isn’t helping. Besides, I’ll never believe it was anything but a scheme for the USA to guarantee cheap oil and make Haliburton even richer.
Never mind we could have used all the money that’s gone into the Iraq war to make things better in this country. The infrastructure is slowly crumbling and that money would have gone a long way toward replacing a lot of it. Never mind we aren’t the top nation in most statistics anymore and that money could have helped the poor, health care and schooling.
Plus the loss of life and the sacrifices our young men and women have made. Over a phony war supposedly about WMD. It’s sad but I don’t feel all that bad for the Iraqi people. Next up is Iran. Me, I’d just send about 25 cruise missles per day and some B1 bombers to take out their infrastructure until they complied.
If we are going to be seen as the worlds bully lets at least do it the easy way and minimize our costs and the loss of life of our troops.
The highest officials in the country okayed the outing of an undercover CIA agent because they didn’t agree with things her husband said. I don’t care who you are, that’s just petty and mean, not to mention dangerous.
People now have to choose between gas to get to work and food to eat and the food has gotten higher priced because the price of gas is so high. Aren’t you so very happy the govt didn’t make GM, Chrysler and Ford actually live up to the mileage requirements they were supposed to meet. It’s no longer true that if it’s good for General Motors it’s good for the country.
Yes, we need change but it needed to start happening 35 years ago during the gas crisis in the 70′s. Believe this change is going to happen, there’s no doubt about that. Howver it’s not going to be the changes we want but the changes we are forced to make to be able to survive.
Lol, now the govt labels little rants like this as anti American or as helping the terrorists and would much prefer to stifle all dissent. Well, all I can say to that tactic is it’s a tactic of fear by our own govt. Label me what you want but wanting this country to do better and be better doesn’t make me pro terorist or anti American. It’s about as patriotic as a person can get. We are all guaranteed the right of free speech by our constitution and excersing that right is as American as it gets.
