AIG bonuses after bailout

While the AIG bonuses may be contractual I’m sure that somewhere in that contract is a section on performance. That piece of the contract could be used to deny the bonuses to the AIG employees. If there is no performance section then AIG should be allowed, allowed hell, forced to go under.

These greedy AIG employees have already killed AIG’s reputation so I don’t understand letting them kill the company, too. Most of these people getting the AIG bonuses after the bailout are the exact same people that made the bailout necessary.

Why would you reward people that damn near killed the company? It sure isn’t for good performance. So why are they getting the bonuses that no one thinks they deserve? AIG says it’s contractual so legally they have to pay them.  Bull sh*t. Did you ever see a huge corporation that didn’t break contracts whenever they felt like it?

AIG should just not pay them and let them sue. If anything these people should be paying back past bonuses rather than getting new ones. AIG also said the bonuses are the only way to retain good people. What? Good people? Where?

These are the same people that got them into the trouble, financially, they are in now so why would you reward them for that. Why would you want to keep them. IMO they should not be paid and they should be fired. Why keep people who are killing your company.

Yes, I know, I’m a little guy and according to the politicians on yesterday I don’t understand the situation. So the politicians think I’m stupid. What else is new. I can tell you one thing, I’m not stupid enough to pay bonuses to people who have hurt my company. I’m not stupid enough to want to keep people who have hurt my company.

I’ve owned a few companies and I own one now. All, including this one have been profitable. Some wildly so and some rather lukewarm but still profitable. If any of my employees ever did what the AIG employees did they not only wouldn’t get a bonus they’d get a pink slip instead.

I may not understand but I do understand that you don’t pay people bonuses for performing badly. You don’t pay people bonuses for damn near killing the company.

IMO all of these companies getting bailed out either need to reform their practices, stop giving bonuses or pay the bailout money back. If AIG management doesn’t understand that, or any other companies management doesn’t understand that then they need to go under and suffer their fate rather than feeding like overfat hogs at the public trough.

It was their piggish behavior that caused the bailouts to be needed to begin with.  Do what all farmers do with fat hogs, send them to slaughter or in this case, send them to the unemployment line. It’s what they deserve.

A few months ago I thought the bailouts were a good idea and even necessary. Now I think we the taxpayer has been scammed. Both by the companies and by the treasury dept. If we are going to have a free market then there is no company to big to fail. So let them fail. Some other companies will pick up the pieces and life will go on. It just won’t go on for the greedy pigs.

NO MORE MONEY FOR AIG! NO MORE MONEY FOR ANY COMPANY! Let them live with what they have brought on themselves. Then lets see how much bonus the AIG people get. If we, the taxpayer, hadn’t rescued them there wouldn’t be any money to pay them bonuses so to me the AIG bonuses are the stupidest thing AIG and the other companies could have done.

Nothing like slapping he taxpayer in the face. Seems it was a forehand and backhand slap, too. It’s about time us taxpayers start slapping back.

Let them all go through bankruptcy.

  • As long as AIG insures the Congressional pension program, they’ll get all the bailout money they want and won’t be held accountable for outrageous executive perks and bonuses, no matter how many people are unemployed and suffering. Ultimately, Congress and AIG both feed from the same public trough.
