That’s me, champagne tastes and a beer budget. What it all boils down to is the price of gas and the bottom line is I can either eat what I’m used to and drive less or eat dirt cheap and drive the amount I do now, which is minimal.
A while back I thought I was doing pretty well and then the economy started going down hill, gas went way up, food went way up and so did lots of other things. Well, tomatos are cheap anyway but that’s because of the illness they were causing. I’m eating them tho because it’s what I can afford.
BTW, in my opinon “hamburger helper” isn’t a helper. Hmmm, maybe I should put some of my best hamburger or ground beef recipes on here.
They say history repeats itself and this is starting to look a lot like the 30’s and the great depression. You know, the one your grandparent talked about. The one that made them so frugal and so scared.
If I look at the big picture I can see it’s bite the bullet and get back to the drawing board or go belly up. Right now my income and my outgo are in the same area and if it was a neighborhood you wouldn’t want to live there.
I’m definitely not eating as well as I used to. If I hadn’t seen this coming, two years ago, I’d still have my Suburban and be getting 12 mpg instead of the 26 mpg I get with my car. I broke even on the deal about 10,000 miles ago and now it’s all savings when I buy gas. Lol, I just figured out, I’m saving a lot bigger percentage than I used to but I’m even broker than before.
So, I want my sirloin and fresh strawberrys back.
