So scientists figured there were only 50,000 lowland gorillas left yet the other day they ‘found’ another 125,000 previously unknown gorillas. They were found in part of the Congo known as the Green Abyss.
This does not speak well for scientists, conservation workers and even peta. If course I don’t know anyone who has a good thing to say about peta anyway so we’ll leave those idiots out of this commentary. They are so messed up they are deserving of their own post and you can bet it won’t be pretty. peta sucks.
The finding of the 125,000 lowland gorillas makes me wonder how we can trust anything conservationists say and in this particular case also the scientists involved. They were the ones crying doom and gloom and demanded the species be put on the endangered list.
Now ‘Green Abyss’ kind of implies that it’s not been explored very well and that becomes patently obvious when they can find 125,000 gorillas they didn’t even know existed. Sheesh.
Which leads me to wonder what else is left to find on this earth. We have barely explored the oceans, we are in outer space because everyone thought there was nothing left to find on this earth.
Despite all of our global mapping, our high def spy satellites, our intrepid explorers and GPS it’s very obvious we still don’t know a lot about what’s on earth. Makes me wonder what else we don’t know and what we are destroying in our ignorance.
As an addendum, I’ve heard, this morning on the news, that what they thought was left of the gorillas was 50,000, 70, 000 and even 100,000 and evidently the news is trying to hedge their bets on the story because they are now saying somewhere around 74,000 to 100,000 were thought ot exist and they are now saying with the new addition there are somewhere between 150,000 and 200,000.Maybe it’s because I don’t understand math but adding 125,000 to 50,000 gives me 175,000.
I’ve never trusted scientific figures to much and for sure I never trust the figures the news bandies about. Bottom line as I conclude it, is we don’t have a clue how many lowland gorillas there are nor do we have a clue about how many more we might find.
