Now and then congress comes up with a good idea. MOF, sometimes much better than they’d ever have imagined if they really had any imagination at all. A Dept. of Peace falls into that category.
Now some idiot politician is calling his opponent a hippie, pot smoking idiot for even thinking of such a thing. Considering that you attract what you think about a Dept. of Peace isn’t such a bad idea. Nor is it just one congressman who authored the bill.
You can read more about it here at Dept of Peace. It’s an interesting read.
Perhaps we need to think about using peace to solve problems instead of war. Of course that would be a bummer for the military industrial complex. To bad, to sad, That’s a real heart breaker. Not as big a heart breaker as war is.
Mother Theresa said, when invited to an anti war rally, “No, but when you have a pro peace rally I’ll come”. Isn’t that interesting. No less than Mother Theresa knew that what you think about and do is what you get. An anti war rally is not the same as a peace rally.
Nor is a Dept of Peace a dumb idea. Considering congress first had the idea back in 2001 and they’ve tried a few times since then to get it passed. Last time with 53 co sponosors. Heh, I didn’t think there wwere that many intelligent people in Congress but I guess I was wrong.
I’m pretty sure that wanting peace doesn’t male you a weird, pot smoking hippie but I guess it does to some politicians. Of course anyone who’s against peace is a damn fool anyway and God knows, we have enough of them in Washington.
It’s not only the best idea I’ve heard in a long time I think the bill should be brought up again and passed. Heh, along with restoring all the rights we lost when they passed the “Patriot Act”. Sheesh, it’s getting so bad the “Green Party” is starting to make sense.
If you really want change then vote Libertarian. That’s about as much change as your likely to get. Now that would really be amusing.
