Well, it’s official, the world court says it has authority to indict people even tho they aren’t members of the organization. The International Criminal Court indicted the President of Sudan for war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide.
About damn time! Now we’ll find out how seriously the international court takes itself. It’s one thing to issue indictments, it’s another to actually arrest them and get them to the court room.
If the indictment is for real they’d better start sending people to apprehend this criminal. Better be for doing it damn soon too. Real damn soon.
If they wait to long, particularly when they know where he is, it makes them look to be all bark, no bite or a paper tiger. Not really the image you want the world court or the international criminal court to have. If that’s the case then it just becomes the court of public opinion.
Public opinion seldom changes anything, public action does. He needs to be arrested, tried and convicted, then executed. That would send a strong message to the world that the world is no longer going to tolerate this kind of behaviour.
Now as long as we, The USA, stays out of it and isn’t the ones sent in to get him, it will send an even stronger message that it really is the world and not just the USA.
OTOH we would run the risk of having our leaders judged by the same standards. World standards. Could be a bit risky since we’ve started taking away freedoms and torturing people.
